Searching for Normalcy

"And finally, above all else, it is about leaving a mark that I existed: I was here. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that’s why I made works of art…" – Felix Gonzalez-Torres

CHA Favorites February 3, 2011

The CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) 2011 Winter Conference & Trade Show, which took place at the end of January, is when all the scrapbook product manufacturers debut their new collections and products for the coming season. Below are my favorite products that I’ve seen so far.

1. SMASH books – Oh my… I am in love with these little books. They are little art journals that come with their own pens (glue stick on one end, writing pen on the other), printed tape, mini notepads, etc. They are perfect for holding greeting cards, ticket stubs, items cut out of magazines, notes… all those little scraps of life we want to remember. Love love love. They don’t come out until April, but that gives me time to save money. Because, of course, I want them in every color.

2. Echo Park’s “For the Record” – I love this collection. It’s just so pretty. I love these colors and Echo Park papers are very good quality. They are a fairly new company, but so far they’ve had some really lovely designs in their last few collections.

3. Hambly’s washi tape – Japanese washi tape has been very popular for about the last year or two, but I have yet to purchase any. I’m loving these designs from Hambly and might just have to try out a couple.

4. Crate Paper’s “Portrait” – This is technically supposed to be a wedding collection. But I don’t care. I just love the colors and designs. I’ve only recently started using Crate Paper products, like in the last six months or so, and I have to say that I am a fan. They have become my absolute favorite manufacturer, due to the quality of their product and the gorgeous graphics and colors. I can’t wait to add this collection to my stash.
