This past weekend. It was a small, simple, family affair. Just 32 guests. My parents couldn’t fly in for it, so I played videographer for them.
My sister’s friend, Carmen, is a notary, so she performed the ceremony.
My cousin, Tommy, stood in for my dad and walked her down the aisle.
My aunt – my mom’s sister – played the part of “proud mom.”
That’s me. Obviously.
My cousin, Kristy, was the photographer. (She actually IS studying photography in college.)
They danced to some country love song by George Strait, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. (But I do remember that cake! It was awesome. Half yellow, half chocolate, with natilla filling and whipped icing. I remember the important details.)
You see this couple? This is Mandy, my sister’s ex-husband, (my niece’s dad) and his wife, Marilyn. They’ve been married for almost 25 years. See that chick behind them in the black and white dress? That’s his sister, Marcy. She’s married to my cousin, Tommy (see picture #3 at the top). Marcy and Tommy have three kids. Kristy, the photographer with the red hair four photos up, is their middle child. You know who else was in attendance? Mandy’s parents – my sister’s former in-laws – and my sister’s lifelong BFF, who briefly dated my cousin, Tommy, about 30 years ago, before he met Marcy. I told you. A family affair.
And the requisite “hold-the-camera-at arm’s-length” photo of Christian and me. (As far as I know he hasn’t dated or divorced anyone in my family.)
(Holy shit!! Has it really been a month since my last post?? I hadn’t even noticed it’d been that long. Yikes!)
