Searching for Normalcy

"And finally, above all else, it is about leaving a mark that I existed: I was here. I was hungry. I was defeated. I was happy. I was sad. I was in love. I was afraid. I was hopeful. I had an idea and I had a good purpose and that’s why I made works of art…" – Felix Gonzalez-Torres

Father’s Day and some scrappiness June 24, 2010

Fanless and I celebrated Father’s Day with our friends, Kim and Brandon, and their two girls. We enjoyed a great lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack, followed by a trip to Bass Pro Shops/Outdoor World, where we were joined by Kim’s parents and her brother, Chad.

They’ll be moving to Washington at the end of July. I, for one, am bummed.

I can’t believe this little one will a year old in just three months. It seems like she was just born yesterday. (Seriously, SO yummy!)

Here Mia is modeling her “super fast shoes that let me jump high-high-high-HIGH!”

This was a semi-photobomb. I leaned over and smiled and then Kim yelled “Christian!” and snapped the picture when he looked up.

Her first french fry! (Which was promptly followed by a second french fry, some vomit and a wardrobe change.)

Right before taking this she said “Aunt Lulu, I want to be serious in this picture.” She is such a trip.

And this is what happens when Grandpa buys you a blue ring pop at Outdoor World.

And a couple of scraps…

The pic is of my niece at her bridal shower (I’m finally scrapping these. Never mind that she just celebrated her second wedding anniversary) and I used DCWV papers that matched the color and design on her dress. I kept the page fairly simple so the focus would be on the photo.

For this one I used papers and embellies from the Noel Mignon “Lemonade Stand” kit. The blue buttons and alphas were from my stash.

That’s all I’ve got for now. Peace out, yo!

Exactly One Month… June 17, 2010

Until my birthday! You know what that means… Wish List Time! (And as always, I don’t actually expect to receive any of these items. This is purely for fun.)

Books:

The Madonnas of Echo Park’ by Brando Skyhorse

The Madonnas of Echo Park

The ‘Pretty Little Liars’ books by Sara Shepard

(I had never heard of these books until I started watching the new ABC Family tv show based on the series. The show is pretty good, so I want to read the books in order to have the complete back story. Even though they fall under the YA category, the show is pretty racy.)

The remaining Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) novels

(I have books 1-3, but I still need 4-10.)

Silicone cases for my (new!!) Blackberry Curve 8530 (because I know myself well enough to know that I will drop it or something, and it WILL get effed up), These are all from Amazon and they are really inexpensive (under $2 each compared to $15.99 each at Best Buy!) and I pretty much want one in every one of these colors. So then I can be all Paris Hilton-like and change them to coordinate with my outfits… Just kidding. Maybe.

Scrappiness June 4, 2010

Filed under: Scrapbooking — Lulu @ 10:26 pm

Just sharing some layouts I made over the past few weeks and never got around to posting. These are not my favorites, but they count towards that whole “using up my stash” deal. (Unfortunately, all the photos have a yellowish tinge to them because of my desk lamp. It’s been too gloomy and rainy here to get any good natural light.)  So counting these seven layouts, the two baby albums for my friends, and a couple of minis I’ve made (no specific topic; just using up supplies), I’m giving myself a challenge count of 60. Just because I can. So there. 😉

So close and yet so far!
